In addition to the use of fitness, dance, and energy work, the Shake Rising modality holds three intentions that act as a road map to our liberation.
Our three intentions are to first and foremost, activate our life force energy through our undivided attention, secondly, reprogram our subconscious mind through repetitive affirmations, and finally, regulate our nervous system through full-body shaking.

Shake Rising is a transformational movement practice that incorporates fitness, dance, and energy work with the end goal of liberation.

Hi, I'm Sara.
THE FOUNDER OF SHAKE RISINGÂ
From an early age, I started saying that fitness saved my life.
Devoting myself to fitness was an âescape routeâ to the life of addiction I saw all around me.
Although I didnât know it at the time, seeing addiction around me created a deep desire to experience a sense of control.
And thatâs what fitness gave me. It gave me a reason to get to bed early. It gave me a positive outlet to focus my attention on. It supported me in strengthening my sense of self, and my experience of feeling like I was in control of my destiny⌠And that, through my will and focused attention, I could create any reality I desired.
And so fitness became my life. I grew a deep devoted passion for the structure, studied to become a personal trainer, and even went on to purchase my fitness studio, The Sanctuary Kauai, at age 23 - when most people thought I was crazy.Â
But then one day, fitness didnât feel good anymore.
I remember teaching a âcardio twerk fusionâ class on Zoom, feeling so energized and excited, like all the other women participating, and then closing my computer and feeling incredibly irritated and overstimulated.
Damn, how could something so beneficial become destructive?
And also, now what?
It was from this space of discomfort and loss that Shake Rising was born.
Even though it was invisible, it somehow felt even more profound.Â
Experiencing that sense of irritation and overstimulation from class illuminated the truth that I was more than just my physical body.
There was an energy being created from the movement; an energy that felt incredibly powerful, overwhelming in fact.
After years of cultivating control and structure, I realized that there was something entirely different going on. I realized that beyond my physical body, that I had spent my whole life gaining mastery over and learning to control, I also had an energetic body.Â
Even though it was invisible, it somehow felt even more profound.Â
Thus, I began to attune to this part of me. Some months later, this new embodied awareness led to a full on energetic and spiritual awakening, where suddenly, I could feel massive amounts of creative energy present in my body, unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I had always heard people in the spiritual community use terms like âkundalini awakeningâ, and to be honest, I thought it was some sort of woo woo spiritual ego.
And yet, the energy I felt present in my body was so potent and strong, it was blatantly obvious to me that this was NOT bullsh*t. Â
So, after control, I learned surrender. Surrender to the unseen, unexplainable Divinity that we are.
Itâs been a powerful and potent journey leading me here: combining the elements of fitness, dance, and energy work to support myself, and others, in embracing the Divine Duality that is life, and ultimately experiencing true liberation.Â

Shake Rising's BIRTH STORY

Where it All Began:Â Cardio Twerk Fusion
As mentioned above, Shake Rising seemingly happened on accident. This practiced originated in January 2020 under the name Cardio Twerk Fusion. The original class was 100% fitness-oriented with dance elements, and at this time, there was no conscious energy work being done. The focus was on providing a very challenging HIIT (high-intensity interval training) cardio class that utilized sexy dance moves.
Then in April of 2020, Cardio Twerk Fusion began to take another shape during the Covid lockdown. Many women wanted this workout & the desire came at a shock. Because classes were virtual, dance became more of a focus over the high-intensity cardio (itâs hard to motivate for burpees in your living room in front of a computer screen).Â
At some point, I came to the realization that moving my body in this sensual way could actually become non-beneficial in certain situations.Â
For instance, activating my sensual energy (my life force) for an hour and then going back to a state of lockdown, where I couldnât leave my home or connect with other humans, started to create tension (as mentioned up above!).Â
At that point, I realized that the energy being built through this movement is very powerful, and needs to be handled with care.Â
Twerk Fusion
Thus, Cardio Twerk Fusion became âTwerk Fusionâ, and the attention to our energy centers became a focal point, as, at the time, this felt like the âeasiestâ and most assimilable way to care for the energy we were creating.Â
By focusing on the energy body, I was able to digest the energy being created in my body in the most beneficial way. The sense of sensuality still was present, but also a sense of life-giving, creative, and nourishing energy came through. I was able to place the energy being created into my different centers, allowing me a sense of wholeness, integration, and transcendence.Â
Fast forward a few months, and the âTwerk Fusion Clubâ was back in a live group setting at the The Sanctuary Kauai fitness studio (home of Shake Rising).
Classes continued to build in popularity and demand, with women, including myself, often leaving with âgoosebumpsâ, âtearsâ, and ârevelationsâ.

Kundalini Rising
Then one night, it happened. It was Tuesday, July 14th, 2020. As I sit at the kitchen counter and write this, I can feel my physical body tingle at the memory.
I had taught a Twerk Fusion class, and as everyone was leaving, I felt an energy in my body that was so intense, I was fearful. I felt incredibly high. High on what, I couldnât quite figure out yet.Â
âAdrenaline?â, I thought. My speech was almost blurred; I was speaking so fast. I could barely be around humans, as I felt totally out of my body. My entire body felt as if it was operating at a quicker pace than ever before. It took me about 2 hours to âcome downâ.Â
The next day, I woke up and immediately started journaling about what had happened. I retraced all my steps. I wrote about the dance moves we did, the words I said, who was in the room, and every detail I could think of to try and figure out what had happened.Â
Later, I spoke to a friend about the experience, and he mentioned that I may have experienced a âKundalini Risingâ. At this thought, I started to dig deep. I began my research on Kundalini; what it is, how it rises, and why. Itâs no coincidence that I âhappenedâ to be reading the Mary Magdalene Manuscript at the time (a highly recommended book), which spoke about this phenomenon in depth.
Shake Rising is BORN
âKundalini is the ancient Sanskrit name for the primal life force that animates all living beings.â This means we all already have this energy inside, regardless of what name youâd like to call it. Kundalini can also be called Shakti, Prana, Chi, Sekhem, Holy Ghost, or simply Energy.Â
Kundalini is said to be sleeping at the base of our spine, coiled like a snake, in our first chakra, or energy center, the Root. When this energy rises up the spine, it charges each center along the way, until it reaches the crown center. Once Kundalini reaches the crown, we can move from unconscious to conscious, enlightening ourselves with awareness. Â
Once this happened for me, the modality of Shake Rising literally poured through me. I wrote down what the practice is, what the comprising elements are, the intentions, and how we bring those into fruition, and now here we are.
Today, we speak to the life force energy in our body as it is, energy. We use the energy body as a map, illuminating aspects of Self. If you feel skeptical with some of this terminology, I get it, I am with you. Give yourself the opportunity to experience your power and true liberation. We can't wait to Shake with you.Â
